Diary of a Wildlings Adventure: July School Holidays

There’s something special about winter in the forest. Cool mornings, warm fires, and the kind of unhurried play that makes memories for life. These July school holidays were no exception; your Wildlings embraced every moment with open hearts, dirty hands, and endless imagination.

Whether carving by the campfire, perched in a tree, or immersed in make-believe worlds, the forest felt full of possibility.

Our Minecraft-loving adventurers left their screens behind and stepped straight into the real-life version of their favourite game. From designing elaborate booby traps to crafting tools and creating forest shelters, every moment sparked creativity and teamwork.

It was a joy to watch friendships form as children collaborated on survival tasks, engineered clever inventions, and threw themselves into playful challenges, all while immersed in the bush.

Our Winter Wonderland program brought warmth, focus, and slow, skillful play to the centre of the day. Children learned to whittle using real tools, carved cooking sticks and totems, and gathered to share food and stories by the fire.

With time to climb trees, explore the forest, and rest when needed, children regulated their own pace. The fire crackled, the tools were well used, and the magic of nature-led learning was everywhere.

There’s nothing quite like a full day of immersive make-believe, and our Medieval Quest did not disappoint. The forest transformed into a kingdom alive with knights, villagers, secret missions, and castle-worthy creations.

Children arrived ready to craft their shields and weapons, and built hideouts between the trees. It was play at its most powerful: unstructured, imaginative, and led entirely by the children themselves.

There’s Always Time For Adventure

We know many of our sessions are booked out quickly (thank you!). But if you missed out this time, there’s good news—we still have a few vacancies left in our Sunshine Coast programs this week.

It’s not too late to give your child the chance to climb trees, cook on the fire, and lose themselves in hours of nature play. These are the days they’ll remember.

We’ll see you in the forest for more fun next week.

Stay warm,

The Wildlings Forest School Team
